Congratulations
to Lilian and Madelyn who have been voted by their peers for the role of
Semester Two Student Councillors. Both of these students are responsible and
show great initiative within our classroom and school environment. I can’t wait
to see how well they represent our class during Semester Two 😀
NAIDOC
Week – Buddy Class
Last
Friday we had the pleasure of hosting our Room 30 buddy class for a fun NAIDOC
week activity. We learnt about what it means to celebrate NAIDOC week and made
particular mention to this year’s NAIDOC theme ‘Because of her we can’. The
students then worked alongside their buddies to create mosaic collages of the
Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander flags. Below are some photos of their
fabulous work.
Poetry
and ICT
This
term in class we have been focusing on different elements of poetry, as well as
our ICT skills. Each week the students have the opportunity to write their own
poem and on Fridays during our ICT time, the students have been practising
their word processing skills and typing them up. These typed poems will then
become a part of a class poetry book to be read and displayed in our book
corner!
We
have also introduced Typing Club as one of our morning work activities to
increase the students’ exposure to word processing and get them typing more
efficiently. The students love this!
Science
In
Science, this term, we are focusing on different materials and the properties
of those materials. We have been exploring our school and class environment to
record various materials and find out why they are suited to their particular
purpose.
HASS
Throughout
HASS this term we are learning about Civics and Citizenship and, in particular,
the need for rules and laws in our society. We are also focusing on the three
levels of government and what each government is specifically responsible for.
