There
have been so many exciting things happening in our classroom and around the
school the last few weeks!
A
big thank you to all the parents and family members who attended the Parent
Information Night on Tuesday. I really appreciate you taking the time to hear
about all the wonderful things your child is doing at school. It is also lovely
for me to put faces to names and meet all of you.
I
have added a new tab to the class blog called ‘Extra Online Activities’. This
includes specific links to our class Typing Club page, Literacy Pro and Study
Ladder. The students have been given log ins for all of these pages that are
glued in the front of their homework books. Please make use of these for extra
activities if you wish.
English
Last
week we had an Australian focus during English and read the story “I’m
Australian Too” by Mem Fox. The students loved this book as it shares a message
of inclusion and reminds us all of just how lucky we all are to live in such a
great country!
We
began our mathematics unit with an ‘All About Me’ activity where students had
to create number sentences that were equal to various categories such as their
age and birthday.
Geography
Keeping
with the Australian theme, it is important for children to know and understand
the country they are living in. We spoke about the various cities, states and
territories in Australia before mapping them. We also discussed what being
Australian meant to all of us and the students were able to write their
responses to attach to their maps.
I
look forward to sharing more with you in the coming weeks.
Thanks
Miss
