A message from Miss Zaffino
The last 2 weeks have been extremely busy with two incursions conducted in Week 7 by Constable Care and RAC, as well as our own class excursion to Fremantle during Week 8.
Our excursion was a huge success and I hope the students went home and shared all their exciting stories with you! We had an awesome day. Special thank you to Mrs Q (our parent helper) and Ms Wisby for attending the excursion with us.
2 weeks left of school until the holidays!

Book Fair
This week we have the Book Fair coming up from June 24-28. The Book Fair is where you can buy some books, posters and different activities related to books. Every purchase you make earns learning and literacy resources for our school. You could get so many books and maybe you will even be able to do the quiz on Literacy Pro during the year. There’s also a ‘Guess Who’ competition so if you win you get a $10 voucher and there will be 5 lucky winners!!!
Constable Care Incursion
On the 10th June, we had our Constable Care incursion. They taught us about road safety. They performed a puppet show on how to get to school safely and these are the ways: walking, riding your bike/scooter or going in a vehicle. We also learned a song and this is how it goes.
“Stop, look, listen and think before we cross the ROAD!”

RAC Incursion
On the 12th June, we went to the BER room for our RAC incursion. We learnt about road safety and we used happy sacks to demonstrate what it would be like when you have a seat belt on and when you don’t have one on in the car. We also learned about the Little Legends Club. We participated in an activity where we sat on chairs and pretended they were car seats. The driver played a game to see how distracting it was to have passengers who were not being responsible. This was a very important lesson for us to learn to ensure that we are always responsible in the car if we are a passenger or a driver.

Fremantle Excursion
In Week 8, we went on an excursion to Fremantle. We went to The Fremantle Prison, Cicerello’s, The Roundhouse and The Shipwrecks Museum of WA. In the Fremantle Prison, we looked inside the creepy cells and learned about a man called Moondyne Joe. At Cicerello’s, we got to build sandcastles and touch many marine creatures. At the roundhouse, we got to hear the canon fire at 1pm sharp. At the shipwrecks Museum, we were able to look at very cool things. We had lots of fun!
Wattle Grove’s Got Talent
During the last few weeks, Wattle Grove’s Got Talent has been held. This is a talent show where students from Years 1 to 6 can perform and showcase their special talents. Congratulations to the students in our class who performed. These students were: Skyla and Alyssa, Savarnah and Kayla, Jess and Neve, Rithi, Amelie and Nadia. Well done for having the courage to participate and perform

Maths – Fractions
During Maths in the last few weeks, we have been learning about fractions (specifically adding fractions). We have also been learning how to change mixed fractions to improper fractions and vice versa. We are having so much fun learning about fractions!
